The iPhone 7 doesn't look that different from its predecessors, but the more you handle it, the more improvements you'll find. The camera is more efficient, there are double speakers, and Apple has finally made its flagship device water resistant. If you've managed to get one, then you probably appreciate it, but sometimes just one problem can be enough to kill that pleasure.

We have filtered the comments to identify the main issues faced by iPhone 7 users, and we also have some potential solutions and repairs to help you get the most out of your device.

1.No 3.5 mm jack plug

Apple's decision to kill Jack Jack was naturally very controversial. If you have already invested in purchasing a pair of headphones based on the standard port which, until now, was listed on all phones, then you have the right to be a little irritated. Using the Lightning port also means that you will no longer be able to charge your iPhone 7 while using the headphones. There are a few alternatives that you may want to consider, but there is no real solution for this problem.

Alternatives

An adapter is delivered with your iPhone 7, or you can favor the use of a Bluetooth adapter. You will also find many guides on the Internet on how to use your old headphones with your iPhone 7.

Maybe it's time to go wireless? You will find many guides for choosing your Bluetooth headphones.

2.IPhone 7 whistles

Many iPhone 7 owners have complained of a mysterious whistle coming from the back of the device. It seems to be stronger when the iPhone 7 is engaged in heavy tasks, when for example an application or a game is running, which suggests that it is linked to the processor. Place your ear next to the Apple logo and perform a task that requires a lot of power, to assess it yourself. It should also be noted that many other devices and terminals will make hissing and other noises when subjected to heavy stress - you will listen to it if you pay enough attention. It's just that we don't notice it most of the time. This problem had affected so many people that Ars Technica and 9to5Mac had finally reported it.

Potential solution

There is currently no solution for this, but reports suggest that this is not a problem on every iPhone 7. If this really bothers you then contact Apple, your carrier or reseller and request a replacement.

3.Low battery life

The autonomy of the iPhone 7 should be much better than that of the iPhone 6S , thanks to a larger battery and the more efficient A10 Fusion chip. For many people on Apple's discussion forums, this seems to be the case, but we have also noticed some complaints about the rapid depletion of the battery, with more recent complaints resulting from the update of iOS 10.2 .

Alternatives

Opt for the latest update if you haven't done so yet. Battery depletion issues have been addressed in recent updates.

If you go to Settings> Battery, you can activate the “Energy saving mode” to improve the autonomy of your battery, but that at a price. Mail search, Hey Siri, app refresh in the background, automatic downloads and some visual effects will be completely minimized or disabled. However, you can individually turn off any of the above items for a slight improvement in battery life. Go to “Battery usage” in Settings> Battery, and check if a particular application is consuming a lot of power. Consider updating, uninstalling, or replacing it.

You can also search for other iPhone battery tips on the Internet or search for the best portable battery chargers.

4.Unable to activate a new iPhone 7

Many people have trouble activating their new iPhone. If you receive a message about the unavailability of the application server, it may simply be that Apple is having trouble coping with the current volume or the number of people trying to access it. You can check the status here - if there is no green box next to the activation of the iOS device, then try again later.

Possible solutions

If you tried to do it using your mobile connection, switch to Wi-Fi instead.

  • Try to reset your iPhone by pressing and holding the Sleep / Wake button, then drag the slider to completely turn off the device. Press the Standby / Wake button again to turn it on.
  • Make sure iTunes is up to date and try to connect your iPhone 7 to your computer and complete the activation using iTunes.
  • Contact your carrier and ask if there are any known issues with activating the iPhone 7. You may need a spare SIM card .
  • Contact Apple if no solution works.

5.Poor call / speaker quality

This is one of the most common issues on the iPhone 7. There are several threads on the Apple forum. Many iPhone 7 owners have reported this problem. They say that the incoming audio sounds seem distant or too weak to hear. Lots of people have made so many complaints about it that Apple has since updated a support page to try to help people with noise issues.

Official solution

Go to Settings> Sounds and drag the Ringtones and Alerts slider to increase the volume.

If you can follow when the speaker is activated, then there are many other solutions that you can try:

* check the Ring / Silent switch on the side of the phone to make sure it is not set to Silent (Orange).

* Make sure your case does not block the speaker.

* Restart your iPhone.

* Clean any dirt, dust or debris out of the speaker.

* Launch an application that plays audio or sound effects and adjust the volume using the volume keys or controls in the control center.

If you cannot follow when the loudspeaker is activated or nothing changes after trying the methods mentioned above, contact Apple support.

It has been suggested that if your operator is Verizon, this could be the source of the problem. Contact company support here .

6.The “3D Touch” haptic feedback no longer works

This is certainly a bug, since the “3D Touch” continues to work, and there are no comments from the phone indicating that the “3D Touch” has been used. Users have reported this problem via iOS 10.2, but a few things can be tried.

Alternatives

Restarting the phone will temporarily restore the haptic feedback.

Potential solutions

Go to Settings> Sounds & Haptics and deactivate and activate the “System Haptics” again

Go to Settings> General> Accessibility> 3D Touch to activate or deactivate the function and to adjust the sensitivity.

If you have installed Skype, some have managed to restore the function after having disabled the integration option of the application.

7.Crash and bug applications

Many users have gone to Apple's discussion forums to report that the “Phone” application crash or bug during its configuration, in the list of recent calls, and by making calls via Bluetooth headphones. The software and hardware resets did not solve the problem, and those who tried a factory reset saw no changes either.

Potential solutions

Update the recent version of iOS if this is not the case.

If the problem started after an update, the update may have been installed incorrectly. If possible, restore your device to a backup made before the update, and then install the update again.

An alternative solution suggests deactivating “Exchange contacts”. You can do this by going to Settings> Contacts> Accounts, then tap your Exchange account (s) and deactivate the “Contacts” slider.

8.3D Touch no longer works

The “3D Touch” function is an integral part of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, because it makes it easier to interact with applications and access some of their parameters and functionalities. However, some users have not been able to benefit from their 3D Touch or have noticed that the function has completely stopped working.

Potential solutions for  iphone Touch issue

  • Restart your iPhone.
  • If you recently installed a new screen protector, remove it and try to use the 3D Touch again. If it works, this is a problem with the screen protector.
  • Clean your touch screen, as well as your hands.
  • Go to Settings> General> Accessibility> 3D Touch and make sure that the function has not been deactivated by accident. From this page, you can also adjust the sensitivity of the function and test it.
  • Access Apple support or go to an Apple store or an Apple service provider to repair or replace your device.

9.Microphone mutes

When you are in the middle of a conversation and you are using either the speaker or the handset, and the microphone is muted, you tend to hear static and incomprehensible sounds. This problem does not appear during each call. Often after hanging up and calling again static noise no longer exists, but you still have trouble hearing your caller. This is a different problem than the one mentioned above, which deals with incoming calls. This is an issue where the user is making a call.

Potential solutions

As always, restart your phone and also check for an update.

  • One of the solutions that has been mentioned as functional is to make a backup of your iPhone, then do a factory reset and restore the phone using the backup.
  • It could also be a hardware problem. Contact Apple support or visit an Apple store for repair or replacement.

10.Touch ID has stopped working

Many people on the forum have also encountered problems with Touch ID. The function has completely stopped working or is having trouble working. On the iMore forums, a user was unable to use Touch ID while the device was plugged in and charging.

Potential solutions

As always, start by restarting your phone, then try using Touch ID again.

Clean the sensor and finger (s) used for Touch ID. Dust, dirt and other debris can interfere with the sensor.

Download and install the latest update if not done.

Delete the previously added fingerprints and re-add them. Consider creating multiple fingerprints by scanning different angles with the same finger.

If it doesn't work when plugged in, try using a different wall outlet or USB port. Also check and clean the Lightning port.

Contact Apple support as it may be a hardware issue. Your phone may be repaired or replaced.

11.Bluetooth connection issues

As with other smartphones, users find it difficult to maintain a Bluetooth connection, either with third-party wireless headphones or when trying to connect their iPhone to a car. Some users have also noticed a much faster depletion of the battery during use.

Potential solutions

  • Restart the phone.
  • Activate and deactivate Bluetooth again.
  • Disable the Bluetooth devices and try to pair them again.
  • You can try to reset your network settings by pressing Settings> General> Reset> Reset network settings. Then try the Bluetooth again.
  • iOS version 10.2 contained improvements for Bluetooth performance and connections to third-party accessories. If you are not using 10.2 or 10.2.1, these updates may alleviate the problem.
  • If you notice a rapid exhaustion of the battery like this user, it can come from the cable that you use. Consider using the Lightning cable that came with the iPhone or better cables.
  • Perform a factory reset, restore your phone using a backup (or as a new phone) and try Bluetooth again.

12.The camera displays a black, green or purple screen

This problem affects iPhone 7 Plus users. On Apple's discussion forums and on Reddit, users often complain that their iPhone 7 Plus shows a black screen, sometimes green or purple when they try to use their camera. Sometimes an error also appears stating: “Emergency, the iPhone needs to cool down”.

Potential solutions

The first thing to do is to try the steps given on the Apple support site .

If the above steps do not resolve your camera problem, it is likely that it is a hardware problem. In this case, we suggest that you contact Apple Support. Several users who had this problem saw their Apple iPhones repaired or replaced.

12.Chipped or chipped black paints

Apple told us about micro-abrasions on the glossy finish of the iPhone 7 Jet Black, which was likely to get scratched. However, a thread on Apple's forums that has reached epic proportions shows that the regular black finish on the iPhone 7 is likely to flake and chip, even if it is embedded.

Alternative solution

  • Unfortunately, Apple's warranty does not cover this kind of cosmetic damage. Some users ended up selling their phone to buy a new one in another color.
  • According to a publication on the Apple support forums, a customer who calls himself “xfuz1on” managed to submit this problem to a supervisor, who asked him to send photos of the iPhone 7, and he been able to have his phone exchanged at an authorized Apple service center.

14.“No service” error

In September, MacRumors reported that it had an internal document from Apple, showing that the firm was aware of a bug that caused the iPhone 7 to be used without cellular service after exiting airplane mode. We are confident that Apple has solved many of these connectivity issues with recent versions of iOS, but here is what you can do if you experience this kind of issue.

Potential solutions

  • Apple's official solution for this problem is to restart and reinsert your SIM card. We suggest it whenever you have this type of problem with your phone.
  • Update the latest version of iOS if you haven't done so yet.

15.iPhone Overheated

In a conversation that covers the current lifespan of the iPhone 7, users have complained about their phone overheating. It is perfectly normal for smartphones and other electronic devices to overheat when they perform certain tasks, however, your processor should return to its normal temperature after the end of all intensive tasks.

Potential solutions

A misinterpreted application could be the cause of overheating. It could also run in the background and overheat your iPhone. Check all the apps that have been updated, as this problem often results from a bad update. If you cannot detect the problem, you can restore your iPhone.

If despite the reset and restore the problem persists, we encourage you to contact Apple support. A smartphone that tends to overheat could suffer from a dangerous hardware problem, which you will want to deal with as soon as possible.
